Download and read online Journey to Health A Journey Worth Taking in PDF and EPUB This cookbook was written to help others make a ketogenic or very low carb diet a lifetime commitment. After a lifetime of obesity, following this way of eating began as a desperate plan to lose weight, and evolved into a journey to manage my health and not just my weight. While I enjoy eating the best foods of my life and losing weight, I also have come to appreciate that my overall health has improved. I no longer need any of the four medications that I was on before I started keto. I no longer wait in the car or at the hotel while my family hikes. Now I'm the one who suggests that we go for walk or go kayaking or play at the pool. My husband and I have been on a ketogenic diet since June 2013, yet one of our physicians still asks whether this "diet" is sustainable in spite of our having lost a combined 180 lbs! Moreover, my husband's blood pressure has gone from the verge of needing medication to being low normal. Still, the physician asks if we can sustain it long term. In fact, more than one medical professional has told me that this way of eating is too difficult to follow or too restrictive. One of the goals of this cookbook is to prove that notion wrong. This cookbook has the everyday recipes that my family and I have enjoyed on our very own journey to health. There are some low carb treats, but the majority of the recipes in this book are the simple recipes that have become part of our day-to-day lives. There are delicious, filling breakfasts that will keep your tummy happy when it's tired of scrambled eggs and bacon and hearty sides that will never make you feel deprived. This is "diet" food that you will be proud to share at any potluck and your "carbivore" friends will expect you to share! I snuck in a few very low carb treats for birthdays, holidays, or special occasions because these are the foods with which we have also celebrated on our journey. It is my sincere wish that these recipes can help you sustain a very low carb diet as a delicious life style. Building upon his critical work in Good Calories, Bad Calories and presenting fresh evidence for his claim, bestselling author Gary Taubes revisits these urgent questions. What foods should we eat, and what foods should we avoid? Persuasive, straightforward, and practical, Why We Get Fat is an essential guide to nutrition and weight management. Download and read online The Adapt Program in PDF and EPUB The unfortunate reality is that most health practitioners are taught very little about basic nutrition, and even less about how to help people lose weight by using nutrition. Because many of the chronic medical problems that we face today are the result of improper nutrition, health practitioners do not know how to solve these problems—they just palliate them with medications. But with The Adapt Program, ketogenic expert and Duke University internal medicine doctor Eric Westman, MD, reveals another, better way. After treating thousands of clinical patients at the Duke Lifestyle Medicine Clinic, conducting years of clinical research, and authoring nearly one hundred peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Westman developed the Adapt Program, which enables patients to heal themselves just by changing what they eat. Participants in this nutritional program have experienced tremendous success in losing weight and turning around their health, and today Dr. Westman’s practice routinely has a waitlist of three to six months to enter the program. But you don’t have to get in line. This book puts his program and his years of expertise right in readers’ hands. The Adapt Program spells out how to consume adequate amounts of protein to fuel the necessary metabolic functions within the body and then substitute fats for carbohydrates to meet the body’s caloric requirements. It walks readers through every step of the clinical process, explaining which tests and evaluations Dr. Westman would conduct, as well as key points of the diet to be cognizant of. This approach gives readers the tools and knowledge they need to start down the path to recovery and ultimately achieve their goals. The book not only outlines a general program for people who are simply looking to lose weight, but also includes modifications to accommodate the needs of athletes and people with specific medical conditions, such as type 1 and type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity, and hypertension. The Adapt Program is a step-by-step guide to turning the body into a fat-burning machine. It gives readers a basic understanding of how the body works and lays out acceptable foods lists, dietary guidelines, and even delicious recipes to help people on their path to weight loss. The key to forcing the body to burn fat has been in our possession for some time; with this book, Dr. Eric Westman, one of the foremost experts in the field, distills over a century’s worth of knowledge and tens of thousands of people’s experiences into one highly effective and easy-to-follow system. The Adapt Program is the book to turn to for those who want to shed unwanted pounds and optimize health by making simple and satisfying dietary changes.

Download and read online Ketofy Everything in PDF and EPUB Ketofy Everything! Based on the popular Ketogenic Diet, the two authors take the low-carb, high fat way of eating to a new level to make a sustainable lifestyle. Originally created in the early-20th century as a treatment for seizures in children, Keto has been shown to help treat and retard multiple neurological and physiological issues - from Alzheimer's to Attention Deficit to Type 2 Diabetes. The Hobbit and The Keto Iron Chef take two different but complimentary approaches to 'ketofying' foods - one a laid-back, small town diner approach, the other a more exotic and international flair. Both create amazing dishes using ingredients not typically used in traditional recipes, yet easily available. From a modified version of the wildly popular "Fat Head" dough that can be used for pastries, pies, pizza, and stromboli, to exotic yet easy to prepare international dishes like Asian Mochi, Dim Sum, and Crab Rangoons, the two chefs bring main courses, desserts, side dishes, and snacks to the table in a ketofied way. Ketoers joke about living off bacon and butter, but with Ketofy Everything! those are no longer the only choices!
